A terrible plumbing problem in Mascot

Bruce owned an apartment on the 6th floor. The apartment had concrete floors and ceilings. It was huge, looked out over the city and was easily accessible from the nearest bus stop. Bruce had been living here for six years. But now, he was a having a big plumbing problem.

His bath upstairs was leaking into the above recessed shower. The ceiling had begun to sag and the lady was panicky. Her panic was quite justified seeing that her ceiling looked as if it could cave in on her any time. Bruce decided to call a local plumber the very next day. He wanted the leak fixed immediately.

The local plumber came and checked the usual places. He added some mud and concrete to the base of the shower tub and put in some silicone for good measure. After the repair work, the leak went down considerably. But, it had not stopped completely.

When he called the local plumber again, the fellow refused to come. He gave some excuse of it being the holiday season and having a huge workload etc. In short, he was left with a dangerous looking leak and no way to fix it.

“Why don’t you use my plumber? They will come, even at short notice. And they are really good. I am sure they will have the problem fixed once and for all”, said the above neighbour. She had a lot of faith in the plumber from Mascot. When he enquired about the plumber, he was also impressed. These guys were servicing clients as far away as Sydenham, St Peters, the Eastern Suburbs, Botany, Randwick, Kensington, South Coogee and Eastlakes. Obviously, they must be good.

The plumber from Mascot came for a primary visit that very evening. He checked the ceiling of the lady underneath and then came up once again and inspected the drain above. “I guess the better thing to do would be to start repairing the pipes between the walls”, he said.

As suggested, the plumber from Mascot started work from the shower ceiling below. He then meticulously sealed the leak and fixed the drain in Bruce’s bathroom. After he was done, he guaranteed that the leak was sealed and that there would be no more problems.

Just as he had promised, the ceiling no longer showed any water stains. Bruce was happy that the plumber had sealed the leak. Now, he knows who to call in case of a plumbing problem at home. These days, he never forgets to give the lady downstairs a huge smile. After all, she had done him a favour by pointing out this Mascot plumber!
